Pixies is one of those once-in-a-lifetime bands, having served as influence for other musicians and formations like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, The Strokes, Weezer, and countless more.

Their alternative rock sound mixed with the sound of the late 80s makes them recognisable at an instant. The American band from Boston's signature "loudquietloud" sound has encouraged many fans to discover their music. With and edgy sound and quircky lyrics, Pixies is formed by Black Francis (vocals), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals) and David Lovering (drums).

With a distinct punk rock and surf rock sound, Pixies likes to add an alien factor to their lyrics, with Francis as the main songwriter. Their alternative rock melodies mix with the offbeat topics of their songs, creating a complete unique repertoire.

Songs like Where Is My Mind? (1988) have had a great impact on rock culture then and now. Also, their album Dolittle (1989) featuring songs like Here Comes Your Man and Hey, meant a great deal to their popularity. Throughout the years, Pixies remains as one of the most iconic alternative rock bands.
