The Kooks are a British indie rock band whose blend of Britpop and indie rock has gained them recognition as one of the most influential indie rock bands.

Formed in 2004 by Luke Pritchard (vocals and guitar), Hugh Harris (guitar), Paul Garred (drums), and Max Rafferty (bass), the band quickly gained attention thanks to their catchy melodies and introspective lyrics. Their name was inspired by David Bowie's song Kooks (1971), showcasing their love for the late artist.

Their debut album Inside In/Inside Out (2006) already meant a great success for the band, with songs like Naïve and She Moves in Her Own Way. These songs have already been established as anthems of the mid-2000s indie scene.

Their songs explore themes like love and relationships, and others that capture the essence of adolescence and early adulthood that resonate with their audience, making them more relatable. This way, The Kooks are able to to capture both a nostalgic and contemporary sound with carefully crafted albums that speak to a global audience.
