Polly Jean Harvey is an English singer-songwriter, known also for being a multi-instrumentalist and poet.

Harvey's music career emerged in the early '90s pushing boundaries of alternative rock, as she incorporates elements of punk, blues, folk, and experimental music into her music. But, her raw, emotive vocals and fearless lyricism were crucial in her cementing as one of the most influential artists of her generation and genre.

Her breakthrough came with Dry (1992), and other hits like 50ft Queenie (1993) and Down by the Water (1995). PJ Harvey's lyrics held a lot of power within her artistry, exploring themes of love, power, gender, war, and history, standing out from the rest of artists of her genre by adopting different personas and storytelling techniques.

Her eerie atmospherics also blend into her visual artistry, having also scored soundtracks. This way, PJ Harvey remains a singular force in music with her uncompromising and ever-changing music.
