Eraserheads is one of the most influential Filipino rock bands from the 1990s. Formed by Ely Buendia (lead vocals and guitar), Marcus Adoro (lead guitar), Buddy Zabala (bass), and Raimund Marasigan (drums), their debut album Ultraelectromagneticpop! (1993) skyrocketed them to global fame.
The band continued to release albums after their debut success, leading to other popular tracks such as Alapaap (1994) and Cutterpillow (1995), which made them one of the most important bands in the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) scene. This way, the band's lyrics— whose name was inspired by the David Lynch film Eraserhead— often explore themes of love, societal issues, and Filipino culture that resonate with a wide audience.
Due to their cultural impact during the 90s, Eraserheads has served as a great influence for many other music artists, shaping the country's rock landscape. Although the band split in 2002, they have reunited multiple times for special performances, bringing together their fans for a celebration of their music, blending elements of pop and experimental music into their main rock sound.
