History and Museums

Penneshaw Maritime and Folk Museum

Located on the Dudley Peninsula, Penneshaw Maritime and Folk Museum is a fascinating educational experience where you can learn all about maritime and folk history!  

Cape Willoughby LightStation  

Built in 1852, Cape Willoughby LightStation was the first lightstation to be built in Southern Australia and it stands tall and majestic at the edge of the island, offering incredible, panoramic views.

How to get there

Kangaroo Island is the third biggest Island in Australia and is located just off the coast of Adelaide.

Ferry

  • SeaLink: you can take the SeaLink, which has two luxury, spacious ferries, that operate between Cape Jervis and Penshaw. Travel time is about 45 minutes. 
  • Kangaroo Island Connect: this is the new premium fast ferry which operates between Cape Jervis and Penneshaw. There are car rentals available at all ports. 

Plane

  • Regional Express Airlines: this 30 minute daily flight operates between Adelaide airport and Kangaroo Island.  
  •  QantasLink : you can take flights to Kangaroo Island from Adelaide and Melbourne during December and January. They run year round from Adelaide.

Excellent Kangaroo Island is the most beautiful island in Australia in my opinion. We saw so many beautiful creatures. Easy to get to from Adelaide.
