With more than 12,5 acres of land, the Island is operated by Perth Wildlife Encounters, the island offers an amazing opportunity to get up close to these amazing animals, while learning all about them thanks to their caregivers. But that is not all Penguin Island offers its visitors, since it also provides a vast array of experiences and activities related with marine species, allowing you to kayak surrounded by Australian Sea Lions or even swim with some wild dolphins.

Dolphin, Sea Lion & Penguin Island Cruise

On the Penguin Island Cruise you can experience the mesmerizing wild dolphins and playful sea lions jump, leap and chatter in the wild on a 90 minute tour, which will disembark on Penguin Island, where you can enjoy idyllic beaches, viewpoints and nesting seabirds. The tour also includes a guided walk on Penguin Island and a Glass Bottom Boat Cruise, where you can discover an array of breathtaking marine life and rich wildlife.

Swim with Dolphins

In this unique award-winning experience, you will be able to encounter wild dolphins in their natural enviroment! All the equipment will be provided by the park, and in case you are a novice, you will receive all the help you need from the staff

Penguin and Seal Island Sea Kayak Tour

During this 6 hour tour, you will explore all the details of Penguin Island and Seal Island while riding a sea kayak. You will get up close and personal with amazing wildlife, take a guided walk and even enjoy some snorkelling

How to get there

To get to Penguin Island, you need to go to Rockingham Wild Encounters. You can get there using the next transport options:

  • Self-Drive: if you are driving from Perth, you should allow 45 minutes to one hour to reach the island. There is free car parking on site and overflow parking available at the Safety Bay Bowling Club, which is only a short walk away. After this you can take the ferry. 
  • Train: you can take the train south from Perth on the Mandurah Line and then disembark from Rockingham Station. 
  • Bus: you can take bus 551, 552 or 553 from stands 9 and 10 then get off on Penguin and Watts Road.
