Since opening in 1927, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary has been providing a place of sanctuary for sick, injured and orphaned koalas and nurturing them in an idyllic, natural setting. You can also discover and hand feed other animals, such as kangaroos, wallabies and a range of other animals!

Founded by Claude Reider, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is designed to protect these fascinating, furry friends . Excursions

From school excursions to vacation care groups, there is a wide range of excursions available at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Meet and greet the animals up, close and personal and learn all about these interesting animals with a wildlife presentation and free animal food to feed the animals.

How to get there

The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary address is:

  • Taxi: if you are booking a taxi, there are two numbers you can use: Black & White taxi:131 008, Yellow Cabs taxi: 131 924 
  • Bus : there are several buses operating to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, including bus number 430 which goes from Platform 2C and bus number 445 from Stop 41.  
  • River Cruise : you can also travel to the park by river cruise, which include the Miramar II and the Koala Express.

Access  

There are access facilities available at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, such as free parking, disabled parking and a public bus service.  

The park also allows guide dogs and assistance dogs into the sanctuary, but this must be arranged beforehand.  

Food and Drink

You can enjoy a bite to eat at the Riverside Cafe. There is also a BBQ wood fire and picnic tables.

Medical

There is always first-aid staff available at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

There is free internet available in the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and recharging stations.  

Stroller and Wheelchair higher

You can hire strollers and wheelchairs for $6.

Opening Hours

The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is open to the public every day from 9am to 5pm (including public holidays).

On ANZAC Day (25th April), the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary opens from 1:30pm to 5:00pm.

Excellent My little girl LOVES Koala Bears so this was a really special experience for her. Its amazing how they rescue injured koalas. Best place to see them in the country.
