About

Undoubtedly Australia’s most iconic and famous zoo, Australia Zoo pays tribute to the legendary Steve Irwin’s legacy and offers an incredible array of animals. Australia Zoo is divided into four different sections: The World-Famous Croceseum, the Tiger Temple, the Africa area, the Cheetah Grasslands habitat, the Crikey! Kids Corner, the Crocodile Environmental Park, Elephantasia, Grace’s Bird Garden, the Laughing Frog Lolly Shop and Water Park and the Wildlife Hospital, where you can see an incredible team of vets treat injured and sick animals. Located on the sunshine coast, Australia Zoo is a must-see whilst you are soaking up the sunshine!

Dedicated to conserving and protecting wildlife from all over the world, Australia Zoo has launched a multitude of conservation wildlife projects and educational programs. Australia is also known for its crocodile research project and Wildlife Warriors, which continues the phenomenal work of Steve Erwin.

Animals

There is a wide range of animals at Australia Zoo, here are some of the ones you cannot miss out on seeing:

Crocodiles: Saltwater

The deadly, furious crocodiles are the pinnacle of Zoo and are known for their deadly bite and snapping jaws, which are usually wide open and waiting!

Crocodiles: Freshwater

A slightly smaller breed of crocodile, freshwater crocodiles are fascinating animals and here at Australia Zoo you can experience them display their natural behaviour first hand, including the high walk, where they lift their entire body off the ground and move overground.

Binturong

Often known as bear-cats despite not being related to either of the two, Binturongs are unbelievably adorable and worth meeting whilst they hang out in a tree - they are shy animals which are not often spotted by humans in the wild.

Cheetah

Magnificent spotted creatures who are known to be the fastest animal on the planet, the Cheetah is definitely worth seeing at Australia Zoo. A vulnerable species, there are as few as 7,000 cheetahs left in the wild.

Snakes

Australia is renowned for its array of deadly, slithering snakes which roam the plains of the country. From coastal taipans to black tigers, Australia has an impressive plethora of snakes to discover!

Tigers

Boasting two different species of tiger, Bengal and Sumatran, Australia Zoo allows you to experience these incredible, majestic creatures up close. As two critically endangered species, Australia Zoo is dedicated to protecting these amazing creatures.

Wallabies

A sanctuary for three different types of wallaby: black-footed rock, red-necked and swamp, Australia Zoo is a fascinating place to learn about these unique, jumpy creatures native to Australia!
