Forester kangaroos

As the name suggests, these lively, bouncy animals native to Australia can be found deep in the Australian forests. Spot them on a day tour or enjoy an up close, behind the scenes experience with a one of, up close experience!  

Tasmanian devils

Opening hours

The Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary opens every day from 9am to 5pm  including public holidays except for Christmas day where it closes at 4pm.

How to get there

  • Car: If you are travelling by car, you can easily reach Bonorong Wildlife Park from Hobart or Launceston, mainly taking the A1 road between Hobart and Launceston. There is an on-site car park available. 
  • Public Transport: there are buses available to and from the wildlife park. Check the MetroTas trip planner for more information.  
  • Taxi or Uber: you can take taxis and ubers to and from the sanctuary. However, there are not always local Uber cars available.  

Useful Information

Food and Drink

Enjoy a bite to eat at the Bonorong Food Hut which sells 100% plant based, scrumptious food during the day and catering can be arranged for large groups. The opening times for the food hut are generally 10-30am-2.30pm.  

There are also a range of snacks available at the Bonorong Wildlife Park gift shop.  

You can also bring BYO food or a picnic, as there are several picnic tables in the Sanctuary and you can take bookings in the BBQ area.  

Toilets

There are several toilet facilities at Bonorong Wildlife Park, including easy access toilets and changing tables for children.
