Located just 40 minutes south of Sydney, Symbio Wildlife Park is home to an array of exotic and native animals to Australia, including Koalas, Red Pandas, Cheetahs, Alligators, Kangaroos and many more incredible creatures! Originally established in 1975 as a small wildlife park, it has not stopped growing since, becoming a renowned wildlife sanctuary and winning multiple awards for getting the visitors closer than ever before to amazing Australian animals. The park is also celebrated for its unwavering dedication to conservation and educational initiatives, with multiple talks every day about the care of species, where they try to teach children how to protect the environment.

Boasting 16 beautiful, well-kept acres of land, Symbio Wildlife Park is the perfect break from the city that will allow you to discover some unique wildlife species. You can even enjoy meeting these animals up-close with Symbio Wildlife Park’s once-in-a-lifetime, interactive animal encounters! 

Animals

Red Panda

Native to the beautiful, temperate forests in the Himalayas, Red Pandas have thick, fuzzy fur and you can interact with them here at Symbio Wildlife Park and record it with your very own photo!  

Reptile House

Dare you enter the reptile house? The house of cold blooded creatures features some of Australia’s deadliest animals, including Freshwater Crocodiles, the Bearded Dragon, Death Adder, Tiger Snake, Inland Taipan, ShingleBack and many more!  

Cheetah

Crowned the fastest creature in the animal kingdom, the cheetah runs like lightning, reaching speeds greater than 110 kilometers per hour in just over 3 seconds. It is quite something seeing one up close and personal!  

Monkeys

Cheeky, chirpy and playful, monkeys are undoubtedly one of the highlights found at Symbio Wildlife Park and include species such as Golden Lion Tamarins, Pygmy Marmosets and many more species.

Koalas

Furry and friendly, koala bears are known to be Australia’s most iconic animals and are worth experiencing in the flesh!  

Eastern Grey Kangaroo

Bouncy and energetic, there is a huge mob of EasternGrey Kangaroos at the Symbio Wildlife Park and lives among an array of playful wallabies!

Talks

Symbio Wildlife Park is not only about seeing the animals, but the park also offers talks and shows where you will be able to learn all about the amazing animals that call Symbio home. Zookeepers will introduce you to the animals and tell you all about their unique individual personalities, their characteristics and their work towards conservation. You can enjoy talks about koalas, reptiles, cheetah or little penguins, among many others.

Koala Experience

During this exclusive experience, you can interact and learn about Australia’s most iconic species. You will learn all about their individual personalities, and the plight of the koala in the wild, and you can even cuddle with one of them!

Kangaroo Feeding

Set on over one and a half acres of manicured grassland, this is one of few places in Sydney where you will be able to hand feed some of the park kangaroos., while you interact with the mob.

Splash Park

The Symbio Splash Park is the newest addition to Symbio Wildlife Park and a great option to refresh and cool off after a day under the Summer sun. The park has a large dump bucket, spray guns, snake water tunnels, squirters and 24 other interactive water play items, as well as a large grassed picnic area, two large undercover shelters and heaps of fixed and moveable seating, being a perfect place for the whole family to enjoy.

How to Get There

Symbio Wildlife Park address: 7-11 Lawrence Hargrave Dr, Helensburgh NSW 2508. You can get there using multiple transport options:

  • Car: if you are travelling by car, from Sydney you can take the Princes Highway through Sutherland and Waterfall which connects with the M1 freeway. Then follow the signs through the roundabout and then you can find Symbio on the right hand side. If you are travelling from Wollongong, take the Princes Highway up Mount Ousley and then connect with the Sydney Freeway.
  • Public Transport: you can catch a train to Helensburgh Station and then a bus which runs to Symbio. 

Useful Information

Access 

Symbio Wildlife Park is mostly accessible, however, there are some areas of the park with gravel paths, so assistance is recommended. There are wide entry gates, gentle slopes, paved paths and disabled parking spots located near the park entry.  

Picnic Areas

There are plenty of picnic benches throughout the beautiful grounds at Symbio Wildlife Park and no barbeque facilities. You can bring your own non-alcoholic drinks and food to Symbio Wildlife Park.

You can choose from a range of food and drink from Symbio Wildlife Park kiosk including delicious items such as salads, sandwiches, hot chips, hot dogs, ice-creams, soft drinks and sweets.
