Wildlife Encounters

Breakfast with the Koalas

Whilst you enjoy your breakfast at the luxurious Lily Restaurant, sit side by side with the friendly koalas - they are an amazing and playful breakfast company!  

Freshie Feed

Feed the crocodiles yourself on a pole from the safety of the Freshie Feeding Platform and test your skills. Daily feeds take place at 11am every day and will be one of the first feeds of the day. Dare you get up close with one of the world’s most vicious animals?

Big Croc Feed

Embark on the fascinating Big Croc Feed, a personalised tour where you will learn all about these awe-inspiring creatures! Experience a saltwater crocodile being fed on a giant pole by one of Hartley’s experts!

How to get there

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure is situated on Captain Cook Highway which is between Cairns and Port Douglas at Wangetti. Hartley’s is 40km north of Cairns and 15 minutes from Palm Cove and 25km south of Port Douglas. You can get there using the next options:

  • Car: You can enjoy a spectacular drive on the Great Barrier which is surrounded by the UNESCO listed Wet Tropics World Heritage Area!  There is a free car park available on site
  • Bus: There are several shuttle bus services and coach operators from Cairns, Port Douglas and Palms Cove which go straight to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures.

  

Useful Information

Accessibility

The majority of Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is wheelchair accessible and is level. However, assistance may be required on the paths of Gondwana Gateway and Cassowary Walk as they are quite steep.

There are wheelchairs available free of charge from Admissions. 

Please discuss in advance if you require guide dogs because they are not always allowed: some of the park’s animals may view dogs as predators.  

There is designated parking for mobility drivers.  

Food and Shopping

Enjoy a bite to eat at the Lillies Restaurant! There are coffees, snacks and meals which you can enjoy between 8.30 and 4.30pm. There are also hot and cold meals from La Carte.
